birthplace of western civilization :

-->2500 yrs ago ..Greece is known as the birthplace of western civilization because its people created the world

first democratic government, the first Olympic games and important contribution to architecture art, literature, science and mathematics.

And their mysterious religion has enriched countless generation with its many wonderful myths and legends.


city states :

-->The civilization of ancient Greece developed in the north eastern region of the mediterranian sea in an area known for its beauty. because of the rugged geography of this ancient land.
long ago people from different parts of Greece were isolated from one another. That's why they were united under a single government instead, their civilization developed in many independent city-states that were scattered across a large area. A Greek city-state was nothing more than a tiny country made up of a single city and a villages that surrounded it. Each city states was unique. Each has its own system of government. they employed similar style, building and art and worship the same god and goddesses.

religion :

-->The Greek religion is very well organized. It slowly grew and developed over thousands of years. religion taught mainly through folk tales called "MYTHS" that were past down from one generation to the next. Greek myths is all about magical power and adventure of the gods. The Greek worship the nature spirit such as rivers, spring trees and caves. And most important to them that gods and goddesses came from smoke cover peeks of mount olympus. They believe that god and goddesses are immortal or they can live forever. Each god has a different role.Poseidon (God of seas) and his brother Zeus (King of the Gods) rule the sky and stormy weather. Apollo (God of sun) Artemis (God of hunt) Athena (Goddess of wisdom). The way the ancient greeks could optain the god advise was by asking question to a strange women called an Oracle.

democracy :

-->Parthenon was constructed with pure white marble. The Goddess Athena is the protector of there city-state. Inside the parthenon a famous sculptor constructed an enormous statue of the goddess from wood, gold, and ivory. In athens the main festival of summer, the Panathenaia honored athena's birthday, the festival began and the joyiest perception in which gift and sacrificial were brought to her temple. a newly golden gown was placed on her statue, outside the temple the animals were sacrificed. after the ceremony. The people enjoy the feast like meat, olives, grapes, cheese, bread and wine. athens is the best of all the city-state because the athens is the first democracy was established. Demoracy is a greek word means "government by the people". they did not allowed the women to vote. Pericles is founder of the democracy in athens. Honoring athena is very important to the ancient Greece.


Olympic games :

-->The first olympic games in ancient olympia took place at ancient greece 776 B.C. Olympia was a sanctuary or sacred town were build for zeus. And originally the olympic game was held on his honored. the olympic game torch is still lit in olympia and carried by runners to wherever the game are being held. Treasuries were valueble religeous offering were stored. The temple of hera, Hera "wife of zeus" and "Mother of the gods". Stadium and Athletic building were the contestant trained. Zeus temple at olympia the golden ivory statue the god that stud over 44 feet

Theatre:

-->The small round in the center of the theatre is called Altar of Dyonisus because theatre is actually his temple. Dyonisus was the God of wine and pleasure. At the foot of the grand stand they called the Orchestra. The greek were very famous for their place which based on legends and myths. Sick people go to sanctuary of Asclepius, hoping to be healed. Asclepius was the god of medicine and the son of apollo. Centaurs are the half men and half horse.

Athenians have plays and sometimes men acted like women but they wore mask :)

SOCRATES is the story teller , he has a lot of ideas about stories for babies.

the WEAVER is the one who will made the cloak for the archon for the parade.

Athenians sacrifices some goats or other meat for their parade.

Athenians gave festivals for Dionysos to make him happy.

Sparta have 2 kings and they have a lots of politicians that ruled sparta, Soldiers live in what they call BARRACKS, and everyday they train for the glory of sparta.

LYSANDER is the soldier that know a lot more about WARS.

OLYMPIANS are good in sports.. OLYMPICS is came from the word OLYMPIA.

Hoplite is a game with running armour. olympians have a temple called ZEUS temple

in zeus sanctuary they worship zeus there . and one of the statue in that temple belong to the seven wonders of the world. :)

4.THE GREEK COASTAL CITIES WERE SANDWICHED BETWEEN THE OCEAN AND THE SEA, THEY DEVELOPED AN AWESOME NAVY FOR TRADING AND FIGHTING.
